How To Protect Your Concrete From Snow in Eastern Tennessee

One of the biggest threats to your home’s concrete is not stains or cars rolling over it but rather it is the freezing temperatures that come about in winter. Here in eastern Tennessee, it is not uncommon to see temperatures plummet well below freezing. When this happens your concrete is at risk of cracking if it is not properly cared for! Don’t worry, here is how you can protect it for years to come.

A concrete coating from Mad Jack will make sure your driveway and concrete are protected for years to come. This is because we only install the industry’s leading concrete coating for our neighbors here in eastern Tennessee. This is our polyurea coating and it is specifically designed to withstand cracking where other coatings would fail.

Here at Mad Jack Concrete Coatings, we are eastern Tennessee’s premier concrete coating provider. We only install the best coatings and have been brought out to coat projects from home garages to massive warehouses. Regardless of project size or scope, we make sure to provide outstanding service for all of our clients who are also our neighbors. If you are on the fence about if one of these coatings is the right choice for you then reach out to us for a no-obligation consultation; we will give you an honest answer as to what you need.

Why Your Exposed Concrete Gets Damaged During The Winter

Unlike other concrete coating companies who install cheap epoxy coatings, we only provide the best coating that is specifically designed to protect your concrete all year long; this includes during the winter when freezing temperatures could damage your concrete.

The reason your concrete gets damaged during the winter is that water will slowly seep into cracks and openings in the concrete. From here when the water freezes it will slowly expand and cause small cracks to turn into massive ones if left unchecked.

Currently, there are two types of concrete coatings on the market; epoxy and polyurea. Unlike polyurea, an epoxy coating will eventually crack and allow water to start to damage your exposed concrete. This process will slowly happen over time as micro-tears begin to form in the epoxy coating and can lead to a massive failure of the coating.

However, unlike an epoxy coating a polyurea coating will withstand any temperatures you can throw at without fading or cracking. This is why we here at Mad Jack Concrete Coatings only provide and install polyurea coatings. We prefer to do the job correctly the first time.

Why our Polyurea Coatings Are The Best Choice To Protect Your Concrete During Winter

Here at Mad Jack, our polyurea coatings are specifically designed to be watertight, not water-resistant. The difference between these two worlds is very important because it is why our coatings will constantly protect your concrete.

Other coatings are water-resistant. This means that water will not damage them directly. However, as these coatings absorb water they run the risk of cracking at any moment when temperatures fall below freezing. On top of this since they absorb a portion of any liquid left on them you run the risk of having an ugly stain on your coating.

Our polyurea coatings are watertight, not water-resistant. Watertight means that water will not be able to impact the surface in any way. Unlike epoxy coatings that can absorb a portion of the liquid, our polyurea coating will just let the water sit on top of them with no effect.

This means that during a winter storm, the snow or sleet will just sit on top of the coating instead of being absorbed into your concrete. Since no water was capable of penetrating our polyurea coating if it freezes then it won’t hurt the coating or your concrete in any way!

Because of this, we have seen orders for polyurea coatings going through the roof over the past 3 years as people get their old epoxy coatings replaced in their driveways and garages. We can tailor our coatings to just about any project so I challenge you to put our skills to the test with any concrete job you can think of.

What Types of Colors and Styles Can We Apply to Your Polyurea Coating?

One of the best things about our polyurea coatings is the amount of custom work we do to make sure our product and service are tailored to your individual style.

We can create just about any style and texture. This is because we have years of experience applying and mixing different types of texture and color additives to our signature polyurea blend.

Out of these blends come some amazing styles. While we can tailor-match our polyurea blends we suggest you check out our style gallery to get some inspiration for your next project.
